“We all get the exact same 365 days. The only difference is what we do with them.” –

Happy New Year!   I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season.

I believe we had a successful season at Santa Land and now it is
time to shift gears for the second half of the Rotary Year…We have much to do.  However, before we do that, there is a Santa Land “Break Down” work party, this Saturday (1/6) at 9:00 a.m.  Yes, it will be cold but the more super heroes that show up, the faster we can get the job done.   I will be offering three (3) entries into the monthly
“Golden Ticket” drawing for anyone that is a super trouper!

Also, I want to make sure everyone knows that our 70th Anniversary Gala will be held on April 1 at the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph.  As this is an event that celebrates the rich history of our club, all members are encouraged to attend.  It would also be wonderful opportunity to invite friends and family.  More details will be forthcoming soon as we continue planning for the festivities.  For now,  MARK YOUR CALENDARS with the date…APRIL 1!

I am excited to be embarking on this new year will all of you – let’s make 2017 the best ever.

President Rita

2. End for Hunger Kickoff event, Thursday, November 3, Madison YMCA

The Rotary Club of Madison and Madison Rotary Foundation ( "Madison") invite all district 7470 clubs to participate in the End for Hunger 3.6 project.

Project: The End for Hunger 3.6 project is a community event in which we package and distribute nutirious, non-perishable, ready-to-cook meals to feed the hungry in our local communities...

Needs: Someone dies of malnutrition or starvation in the world every 3.6 seconds, hence the project name. The district is committed to tackling this issuse by fighting hunger in our local community since, in New Jersey alone, over one million people live below the poverty line, one in five children is hungry and relies on food stamps for meals and the number of people who go hungary and are in need of assistance in finding a meal in our area continues to rise...

Event Date: Saturday, March 18, 2017

Goal: Package 150,000 meals, such as rice & beans, pasta with tomato and basil, mac & cheese and oatmeal, to be distributed to local hunger-based charities and organizations that minister to the impoverished...

3. We are still collecting Halloween Candy for our deployed troops.
(Half open bags of wrapped candy are also acceptable).

Also, we are still collecting checks for Polio Plus.  All members are encouraged to donate
at least $26.50 to be added with our club's budgeted amount of $2000.  We are trying to reach
a goal of $2650.00 in total.  PDG Dr. Karien Ziegler will be speaking to our club next week (11/10) on the topic and I would
like to present her with our donation.  Checks should be made our to The Rotary Foundation.
